APPLICATION NUMBER: 1011908

     Cumberland Coal Corporation, 2000 Auburn Drive, Suite 200, Beachwood, OH 44122 is applying to the Virginia Division of Mined land Reclamation for a Renewal of PERMIT No. 1302421, in order to continue the operations at the following location.

    The Band Mill Impoundment is located 2 miles North of Dunbar in Band Mill Hollow, Wise County, at coordinates North 3551186.1123, East 10240799.2695.  The permit area is 72.28 acres and is contained on the Appalachia and Whitesburg USGS 7.5’ quadrangle maps.  The Renewal map showing the permit area is attached in Section 21.2 of the application.

    Drainage and wastewater resulting from the permitted operation will be discharged into Band Mill Hollow of Roaring Fork, via sediment ponds treating surface runoff and mine discharge.  The discharge locations may be viewed on the Surface Water Hydrology Map, which is attached in Section 21.2 of the application.  The discharge resulting from the permitted operation is existing.

   Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of October 20, 2026 submit written comments or objections concerning this application, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
