KAYE COLLIER

NORTON, VA - Kaye Collier spent her life loving, nurturing, and caring for those she cherished most. Although her time on this Earth ended on July 6, 2026, at the age of 71, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, care, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends who were so blessed by her presence in their lives.

Kaye was born in Bluefield, West Virginia, on March 9, 1955, and grew up in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. She married Donald L. Collier on December 22, 1972, and they moved to Alaska briefly as part of Donald’s military service. Once back in Virgina, their son Victor was born in 1974. The family relocated to Macon, Georgia, in 1986 and Kaye became very involved in Victor’s school PTA, volunteering countless hours and lending her impressive crafting, folk art, and seamstress skills to any project that required a creative touch. Kaye was not only a gifted artist but also an exceptional cook. Over her lifetime she prepared thousands of delicious meals, from her husband’s everyday favorite of soup beans and cornbread to huge Thanksgiving feasts for dozens of people, always taking great pleasure in nourishing her family.

In 2004, Kaye and Donald moved to Jasper, GA, to be closer to Victor’s growing family and Kaye became known as our family’s beloved “Granny”. She devoted herself to helping care for her grandchildren, Ramsey and Lawson, and the bond she shared with them was a precious gift. Kaye truly had a servant’s heart and took such loving and selfless care of her husband, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She will be missed beyond measure.

Kaye was preceded in death by her son, Victor Shawn Collier; father, Carl “Buster” Lawson; mother, Faye Lawson; sisters, Pamela Denise, Judith Gail, and Rita Carol; brother, Carl “Dink” Lawson; nephew, Jonathan Michael Wells; and brother-in-law, Ralph “Butch” Wells.

Kaye is survived by her husband, Donald Collier; granddaughter, Ramsey Ellen Collier; grandson, Lawson Tucker Collier; daughter-in-law, Deidra Collier Rigg; sister, Carlotta Wells; nephew, Robert Wells; and aunt, Sue McAmis.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1-5 pm Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Park Avenue Baptist Church, 728 Park Avenue NE, Norton, VA 24273.
