Wise Planning Commission will conduct public hearings on Thursday, February 5, 2026

PUBLIC NOTICE

     The Wise Planning Commission will conduct public hearings on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 6:00 pm in Council Chambers of the Wise Municipal Building at 501 West Main Street, Wise, VA for the purpose of soliciting public comment on an application for a conditional use permit and site plan review submitted by Wise County for an expansion of the Courthouse parking lot. Anyone wishing to address the Commission regarding said conditional use application and resolutions may speak. 

    A second public hearing shall be held for a resolution recommending amendments to Article 6 and Article 7 of the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations of the Town of Wise, Virginia, adopted March 23, 1987, to bring the articles up to date.

     A third public hearing will be held on a resolution recommending amendments to Article 9 Section 3 to incorporate changes by Legislation concerning advertisements to the public. Following the public hearings, the Planning Commission  may or may not take action to recommend that the Wise Town Council approve the application and resolutions, deny the application or resolutions, or approve the application with conditions. A copy of the application and a copy of the proposed resolutions are on file in the Zoning Administrators’ office at the Wise Municipal Building at 501 West Main Street, Wise, Virginia where they may be examined by interested parties during regular business hours.  

    The Town of Wise offers the right to free language assistance for persons conducting business with the Town of Wise. The Town of Wise provides reasonable accommodations for persons who require special assistance to participate in public involvement opportunities.
