Mary Elizabeth Nixon Plaster, 101, of Coeburn, VA, entered into rest, Monday, January 5, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was born July 27, 1924, in Wise County, VA to the late George and Delia Nixon. She was cherished a mother of 12, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Smith Edward Plaster; son, Billy Edward Plaster; brothers, George Nixon, Jim Nixon, Alfred Nixon, and Bernard Nixon; granddaughters, Anna Milam, Missy Lintz, and Robin Smith; great-grandchildren, Wesley Smith, Darrian Mills, and Nyah Plaster; son-in-laws, Robert Salyers, Clayton Milam, and Oscar Bush.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Robert (Sandra) Plaster, Bernard (Frances) Plaster, Butch (Barbara) Plaster, Ted (Brenda) Plaster, Jeff (Glenda) Plaster, Betty Milam, Sue (Danny) Teasley, Anna Bush, Linda Plaster, Tiny Plaster, and Babe Plaster; daughter-in-law, Irma June Downey; 20 granddaughter, and 7 grandsons; 42 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family received friends Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA. Funeral services followed at 7:00pm with Pastor Mitch Elliot officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12:00pm in Greenwood Acres Cemetery, Coeburn, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:30am to follow in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Milam, Jr, Mike Plaster, Adam Bush, Justin Bush, Mitchell Plaster, Zachary Smith, and Nicholas Plaster. Honorary Pallbearers are as follows, Austin Stanley, Andrew Hamilton, Evan Mills, Ethan Blackburn, Andrew Teasley, Elijah Hill and Daniel Jackson, JR.
