JOHN HORSMAN

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Horsman at the age of 81, following a long bout with Parkinson's Disease.
The surviving family members are his loving children Michelle Horsman Gerwig Butkowski and Ken Butkowski (New Jersey) and Stacy Horsman and Anna Jayne (Satellite Beach, FL); grandchildren Ethan James Gerwig and Chloe Rose Ellen Gerwig; his sister Teresa Horsman Ammon (niece Paige Ammon and Dan Lee (Caroline and Kenndy Lee), sister Jeanne Horsman Scott Selby (Nephews Grayson Scott (Finley Clay Scott), Clarke and Jennifer (Ellie and Samuel) Scott, brother Frank James and Kay Horsman nieces and nephews (Shaun and Ryan (Elias) Yurcaba, Matthew and Ellen (Hudson, Hayes and Ford) Horsman, Rachel and Robbie (Kayla. Madison and Kendall) Badger, Andrew (Fiona) Horsman. And John's beloved cousin Bruce Large of Appalachia.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank J. Horsman and Virginia Ramsey Horsman Tate of Norton, Virginia, as well as his grandparents, John E. Horsman and Tacy Horsman of England who were the founders of Norton Floral.
He grew up in Norton and attended John I Burton High School in 1962, where he acted in "Rebel Without a Cause" and played football. While residing in Norton, he held the position of President of the PTA at Norton Elementary School and was a member of the Norton Lions Club. He worked a decade in the coal industry in Wise County.
After moving to Florida in 1986, John had a long spanning career in home building and founded his own business in Home Inspections. He spent over 20 years working for the Kennedy Space Center in Launch Operations/Support. He retired several times but was called back due to his work ethic and expertise in his field. He was a true outdoorsman.
John will be dearly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, strength and adventure will continue to inspire and guide us.
The funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1025 Virginia Avenue NW, Norton, VA 24273. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Entombment will be at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
Rest in peace in your beloved Virginia John. You will be deeply missed but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
