SAFETY COORDINATOR/

POOL MANAGER

    The Town of Wise is accepting applications for a full-time Safety Coordinator/Pool Manager to lead and oversee the Town’s Occupational Safety & Health Program and manage operations of the Wise Municipal Pool facility. 

   Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures; conducting maintenance inspections of municipal equipment and facilities; investigating accidents; implementing loss prevention programs; and monitoring compliance with OSHA/VOSH and other applicable safety and health regulations. This position will serve as the Town’s liaison with the Virginia Department of Labor & Industry and the Town’s insurance provider, and will be responsible for maintaining all required OSHA/VOSH logs. Additional duties include training and certifying municipal personnel in CPR, First Aid, and respirator use.

     As Pool Manager, the position involves operating and maintaining the Wise Municipal Pool, including ensuring proper chemical balance, meeting all Virginia Department of Health (VDH) requirements related to chemicals and food services, and overseeing concessions and supplies. The Pool Manager will also schedule and supervise pool staff and programs, train lifeguards as needed, and ensure overall safety and compliance at the facility.

    A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license are required. Applicants must hold current instructor certifications in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and Food Safety/Handling. Ideal candidates need experience in safety and health education, program management, and a working knowledge of OSHA/VOSH regulations and safety recordkeeping. Familiarity with respirator use, MSDS compliance, and computer-based records management systems is essential. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are also required. Previous experience managing public pool facilities and working with regulatory agencies is preferred.
