RANDALL LEE FULTZ

Randall Lee Fultz, 82, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed peacefully October 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Randy was born in Bonnie Blue, Virginia, to the late Issac and Cassie. He graduated from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and went on to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew as a pilot during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he pursued entrepreneurship in the coal industry before returning to his true passion—flying. Over the course of his career, Randy flew as both a corporate and airline pilot, later concluding his professional journey as a simulator instructor for corporate jets.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Nancy Herbkersman Fultz; daughters, Rhonda Tellock (Jay) and Amy Hommell (David); grandchildren, David Hommell, Matthew Hommell (Brooklyn), Aaron Hommell (Kylia), Brooke Green (Nick), Megan Howerton (Anthony), Abigail Stone (Christopher), Rachel Howerton; great-grandchildren, Theo Hommell, Mollie Hommell, Everett Green, Mackenzie Hommell, Rylie Stone and two more on the way!

Surviving, in addition to his family, are his brother, Ronnie (Linda), and his sisters, Jean and Glenda (Jerl). He was preceded in death by his siblings Almeda (Don), Donnie (Elizabeth), and Kelly (Barbara).
For the past three years, Randy attended Smithfield Baptist Church. Prior to his move back to Virginia, he attended Grace Community Church in Woodstock, Georgia. He was a proud member of the American Legion, was an avid golfer, an eager bass fisherman, and always a Hokie!
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Briggs Funeral Home and Crematory, 1748 Battlefield Blvd S., Chesapeake, VA 23322, where family and friends will gather to remember Randy’s life and legacy. Following the service, the family welcomes friends and loved ones to gather at their home to continue sharing memories and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Randall Fultz Memorial Fund, to benefit St. Judes Children’s Hospitals.
