HELEN HAGY

Helen Juanita Morgan Hagy, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at her home in Coeburn, VA. Helen was born in Coeburn, VA on June 15, 1927 to the late Elmer E. Morgan and Estelle Nichols Morgan. She spent her entire life always taking care of her family and helping others. She attended the Central Free Will Baptist Church of Norton, VA, where she had many friends.  

Helen went to work in May 1968, at Donnkenny Sewing Factory in Norton, VA. After nine years she went to Buster Brown Factory in June 1977 and retired in 1992 after 24 1/2 years of service. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Charles Melvin Johnson; son, George Elmer "Tex" Johnson; siblings, Sam Cary Morgan, JP Morgan, John Morgan, Carl Morgan, Frank Morgan, and Ruth Odle. 

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Charles "Billy" Johnson and wife, Peggy, of Coeburn, VA; daughters, Regina Brooks and husband, Terry of Coeburn, VA, Debra Belcher and husband, Gerald of Pound, VA and Patricia "Trish" Hagy of Coeburn, VA; nine grandchildren, Missy Buchanan and husband, Barry of Kingsport, TN, Billy "BB" Johnson of Coeburn, VA, Heather Johnson of Coeburn, VA, David Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Coeburn, VA, Allen Brooks and wife, Melissa of Sadieville, KY, Amber Hughes and husband, Mickey of Castlewood, VA, Stevie Hensley of Coeburn, VA, Courtney Slemp and husband, David of Pound, VA and Rachel Mullins and husband, Brent of Pikeville, KY; seventeen great-grandchildren, Josh, Austin, Lexie, Emily, Matthew, Kristin, Audrey, Brantley, Carson, Everett, Gracie, Abbey, Dustin, Jaxton, Colton, Dylan, and Blake; four great-great-grandchildren, Kinley, Blakely, Jaxtyn, Hatti Jo; sister-in-laws, Mary Morgan of Coeburn, VA, Marie Morgan-Smith of Coeburn, VA, Gloria Gillenwater of Coeburn, VA, ; brother-in-law, Roger Hagy of Coeburn, VA; a host of extended family, several nieces, nephews, and friends, including Teri, Eleanor, and Michelle. 

Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2025, at Estes Funeral Home from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with funeral services following at 7pm. Pastor Troy Belcher and Pastor Gary Hill will be officiating and special singing by the Choir of Central Free Will Baptist Church of Norton, VA. 

Graveside services will be Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00pm in the Laurel Grove Cemetery, Ramsey, VA.  Family and friends are asked to meet by 11:30am to proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers include BB Johnson, David Johnson, Allen Brooks, Mickey Hughes, Josh Buchanan, Austin Buchanan, and Matthew Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers are Stevie Hensley, Terry Brooks, Gerald Belcher, Barry Buchanan, and David Slemp.
