MICHAEL LEE MATHENA

Michael Lee Mathena 71, August 17, 1954, of Coeburn, passed away September 14,2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center.  Michael grew up and lived in Coeburn.  He worked in the coal mine industry for over 40 years, with Westmoreland Coal and Alpha Resources. 

Michael enjoyed family and sports, most of all his 2 grandchildren.  

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Naomi R Mathena of 52 years; son Michael (Mikey) Mathena and his wife Courtney Mathena of Elizabethton,TN; grandchildren Marlee and Trey Mathena; sisters Tammy Mathena of Coeburn and Missy Hamilton of Norfolk,Va. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, RC Mathena and Betty Ann Falin; brother Ricky Mathena.
