WISE, VA - Steller D. Beatley Coffey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born during the challenging times of the Great Depression and World War II, Steller's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. Steller began her career at RCA, where she met the love of her life, Billy Joe Coffey, during a break from work. Their whirlwind romance blossomed in just two weeks, leading to a beautiful marriage on August 9, 1956, that lasted for 48 wonderful years until his passing. Steller dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker until her youngest child started school. Returning to work at RCA. In her mid-40s, Steller pursued her dream of becoming a registered nurse, a journey that culminated in her retirement in 2005. Her compassion and dedication to caring for others were hallmarks of her character, reflecting her deep-seated Christian faith in the Pentecostal tradition. 
Steller was a passionate traveler, an avid camper, and a fishing enthusiast, cherishing the moments spent outdoors with her family. She loved the Smoky Mountains so much that she bought a home in the area. She also loved her grade school Alma Mater. Attending several all grade reunions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Joe Coffey; her second husband, Carl Nichols; her parents, Helen and Vivian Beatley; her siblings, Delilah Neal, Richard Beatley, and Vivian Beatley Jr.; her daughter, Karen Calvert Perry; and her granddaughter, Pamela Marshee’ Robinson.
Steller was the proud mother of six children; Karen Calvert Perry (Delano), Brenda Calvert Pund (Kenneth), Dale Calvert, Linda Coffey Robinson (Dusty), Pamela Coffey Boggs (Ricky), and Amanda Coffey Taylor (Rick); She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren, a loving great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren, and a cherished great-great-grandmother to 9 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love will continue to thrive through her family.
Steller's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and cherished memories. As we celebrate her remarkable journey, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before her.
Funeral services for Steller Coffey will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA. Family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. till time of services at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. In lieu of flowers, Steller requested that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in her memory, P.O.
