One death, 42 cases

Wise County reported 36 new COVID-19 cases between Oct. 10 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 14,705 as of Tuesday, compared to 14,669 one week earlier.

Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths increased by one, from 240 to 241.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by six, from 1,687 to 1,693.

The city’s total number of deaths remained at 22.
