One death, 39 new cases

Wise County reported 37 new COVID-19 cases between Aug. 29 and Tuesday.
According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 14,465 as of Tuesday, compared to 14,428 one week earlier.

Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths increased by one, from 239 to 240.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by two, from 1,651 to 1,653.

The city’s total number of deaths remained at 22.
