County, city see 33 new cases

Wise County reported 31 new COVID-19 cases between Aug. 1 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 14,320 as of Tuesday, compared to 14,289 one week earlier.

Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths remained at 238.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by two, from 1,636 to 1,638. The city’s total number of deaths remained at 22.
