CECIL RONALD HAMBLIN

Cecil Ronald Hamblin died Friday, August 4, 2023, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a member and past president of the Norton Kiwanis Club, and a member of Suther’s Lodge #259 A.F. & A.M. Ron was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norton. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and ETSU with a master’s in business administration. He was a registered Professional Electrical Engineer in the states of Virginia and Kentucky and was a member of the National Society of Professional Electrical Engineers and the Mountain Empire Chapter of the Virginia Society of Professional Electrical Engineers. Ron was an Electrical Engineer for Old Dominion Power Company for 34 years. He was a member of Norton Employer Advisory Committee of Virginia Employment Commission.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Effie Wilson Hamblin.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Thomas Hamblin of Norton, VA; two sons, Christopher Hamblin of Wise, VA, Patrick Hamblin and his wife Abbey of Wise, VA; two grandchildren, Mia Brooke Hamblin and Chase Christopher Hamblin; two brothers, Rex Hamblin and his wife Faye of Sparta, TN and Vernon Hamblin of Rockford, IL; a sister, Sue Price of Ortonville, MI; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral and Masonic Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Norton, PO Box 499, Norton, VA 24273.
