DONNIE EUGENE MCNEW

Donnie Eugene McNew, 70, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Pikeville, Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.

Donnie graduated from JJ Kelly High School and Wise Technical School with a Certificate in Carpentry. He was an entrepreneur and the owner of New Construction Company doing business throughout Wise County for over fifty years. He was well known for his ability to complete every aspect of a job himself. Donnie’s love was bass fishing. He was a member of the Wise Bass Club for many years. He fished local and regional tournaments.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Iva (Frazier) McNew; brother, Billy Joe McNew and a sister, Alma McNew Stanley.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Betty (Bell) McNew; daughter, Leah McNew; grandchildren, Rowan Miller and Ryder Mullins; brothers, Danny Kay McNew and wife Jennifer and Jason McNew and his grandson, Elijah; sisters, Rita Baker and husband Bean and Gail Cantrell and husband Bo; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Donnie McNew will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Reverend Tom McNeil and C.L. Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise.
