JENNINGS SARGENT

Jennings Bryan Sargent, 90, died Monday, July 31, 2023. He was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. He worked for Glen Edwards repairing electronics and later worked in the TV Cable Industry installing cable in the area. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture in his shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Arthur Sargent and Ethel Aretta Bentley Sargent; his wife, Helen Mae Talbott Sargent; and four brothers, David, Charles, Robert and Paul.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary Mathieson of Norton, VA, Ruth Bond of Wise, VA and Betty Jessee of Norton, VA; two nieces, Cathy Hincher and Carrie Phillips; thirteen nephews, Dennis Mathieson, Ricky Mathieson, Jeff Mathieson, Tommy Mathieson, Randy Sargent, Chris Sargent, Jerry Sargent, Timmy Sargent, Joseph Sargent, Robby Sargent, Melvin Sargent, Tommy Sargent and Gregory Mullins.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Robert Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Sargent Family Cemetery, Bear Pen Hollow Rd., Norton, VA.
