One week, 29 cases

Wise County reported 27 new COVID-19 cases between Feb. 28 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,968 as of Tuesday, compared to 13,941 one week earlier.
Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths remained at 237.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by two during the same period, from 1,616 to 1,618.
The city’s total number of deaths remained at 22.

The Virginia Department of Health recently made several changes to its public reporting of COVID statistics, including no longer releasing daily updates.
