REVEREND BERNARD JOSEPH BROSKEY

NORTON, VA – Rev. Bernard Joseph Broskey, 80, born September 13, 1942, died Sunday March 5, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center with his loving wife of 60 years by his side. He was a former employee of the Hotel Norton, Clinch Haven Dairy and Westmoreland Coal Company. He was also pastor of Bondtown Freewill Baptist Church, Inman Freewill Baptist Church and a member of Ramsey Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flora Wireman and Joseph Broskey.

He is survived by his wife, Magdalene Broskey of Norton, VA; a daughter, Mary (Scott) Lloyd of Elizabeth WV; son Bennie (Tandy) Broskey of Norton, Va.; son Joe Broskey of High Springs, FL; son Jonathan (Contessa) Broskey of Norton, Va.; grandchildren Clarissa Hill, Brandy Mullins, Gabby Broskey, Saretha Mathers, Haley Broskey, Jacob Broskey, Gavin Broskey, Brayden Broskey, and Brantley Broskey; great grandchildren Layla Hill, Gavin Hill, Riley West, Hunter Mathers, Lincoln Mathers, and Oaklynn Hernandez; siblings Zillar (Darrell) Brickey, Nancy (Bill) Deel, Randy Wireman, Norman Broskey and Joe Broskey.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Powers officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am to travel in procession to the cemetery.
