One death, 49 cases reported

Wise County reported 45 new COVID-19 cases between Feb. 14 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,902 as of Tuesday, compared to 13,857 one week earlier.
Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths remained at 236.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by four during the same period, from 1,608 to 1,612.

The city’s total number of deaths increased by one, from 21 to 22.

The Virginia Department of Health recently made several changes to its public reporting of COVID statistics, including no longer releasing daily updates.
