One death, 66 new cases

Wise County reported 59 new COVID-19 cases between Feb. 7 and Tuesday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,857 as of Tuesday, compared to 13,798 one week earlier.
Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths increased by one, from 235 to 236.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by seven during the same period, from 1,601 to 1,608.

The city’s total number of deaths remained at 21.

The Virginia Department of Health recently made several changes to its public reporting of COVID statistics, including no longer releasing daily updates.
