One death, 60 cases

Wise County reported 47 new COVID-19 cases between Monday and yesterday.

According to Virginia Department of Health statistics, the county’s total number of cases since spring 2020 was 13,347 as of yesterday, compared to 13,300 three days earlier.
Wise County’s total number of COVID deaths remained at 223.

The department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by 13, from 1,518 to 1,531.

The city’s total number of deaths increased by one, from 20 to 21.

The health department reports that statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,534,928 Monday to 1,539,556 yesterday, an increase of 4,628. The number of “probable” cases in Virginia rose from 645,459 Monday to 648,493 yesterday, an increase of 3,034.
During the same period, the number of confirmed deaths increased by 27 to 18,758. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by eight to 3,879.
