When all his days were numbered, and he’s gone and out of sight, his body like an unused costume, no longer holding in his light, don’t look down in sorrow, look to the sky above and remember all the good bits, the good times, and the love…

Willie C. Connell, 80, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning August 21, 2022.

Willie was of the Baptist faith. He loved the Lord, his wife, and his family. Anyone that knew him also knew how much he loved NASCAR and football. His favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Willie loved joking around, laughing, watching Westerns, and he loved his wife’s cooking.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Connell; mother, Bertha Connell Youngblood; sisters, Charlotte Connell and Nona Schoolcraft.
Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth Connell; three children, Valerie Dowdy (James Dowdy), Michael Connell, Michelle Mullins (Ronald Mullins); five grandchildren, Ashley Dowdy (Amy Adams), Shaun Dowdy (Jessica Dowdy), Cassandra Dowdy, T. J. Lewis and Ally Connell; two sisters, Wilma Sears and Betty Mullins; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank Heritage Hall Big Stone Gap, VA Staff for all the care and love they bestowed upon our father during his time there.
Graveside services for Willie Connell will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Ralph McFarland officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: MEOC Pace - 1501 3rd Ave E, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219
