County, city record 45 new cases

Wise County saw 41 new COVID-19 cases between last Thursday and yesterday.

The county’s total number of COVID cases since spring 2020 increased from 10,598 to 10,639 in four days.
The county’s total number of COVID-related deaths remained at 200.

The health department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by four between Thursday and yesterday, from 1,352 to 1,356.

The number of total deaths in the city remained at 22.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,297,968 Thursday to 1,305,021 yesterday, an increase of 7,053. The number of cases deemed “probable” rose from 516,610 Thursday to 519,639 yesterday, an increase of 3,029.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Virginia increased by two to 17,060. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths remained at 3,381.
