Area marks 74 added cases across six days

Wise County saw 63 new COVID-19 cases between last Friday and Thursday.

The county’s total number of COVID cases since spring 2020 increased from 10,429 to 10,492 in six days.
The county’s total number of COVID-related deaths remained at 199.

The health department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by 11 between last Friday and Thursday, from 1,331 to 1,342.

The number of total deaths in the city remained at 22.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,272,918 Monday to 1,283,422 Thursday, an increase of 10,504. The number of cases deemed “probable” rose from 504,895 Monday to 510,222 Thursday, an increase of 5,327.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Virginia increased by 29 to 17,029. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by five to 3,381.
