County, city report 30 new COVID cases

Wise County saw 23 new COVID-19 cases between Monday and yesterday.

The county’s total number of COVID cases since spring 2020 increased from 10,397 to 10,420 in three days.
The county’s total number of COVID-related deaths remained at 199.

The health department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by seven, from 1,320 to 1,327.
The number of total deaths in the city remained at 22.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,263,161 Monday to 1,270,384 yesterday, an increase of 7,223. The number of cases deemed “probable” rose from 500,747 Monday to 503,801 yesterday, an increase of 3,054.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Virginia increased by 19 to 16,999.

The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 11 to 3,371.
