Only four new cases

Wise County saw two new COVID-19 cases between last Thursday and yesterday.

The county’s total number of COVID cases since spring 2020 increased from 10,269 to 10,271.

The county’s total number of COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began remained at 197.

The health department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton increased by two, from 1,302 to 1,304.

The number of total deaths in the city remained at 22.

Virginia’s rate of new case growth was once again accelerating during the same period.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,219,835 Thursday to 1,223,925 yesterday, an increase of 4,090. The number of cases deemed “probable” rose from 479,761 Thursday to 481,725 yesterday, an increase of 1,964.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Virginia increased by 13 to 16,879. The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by four to 3,358.
