Two more COVID deaths reported

Two more local residents have died of complications from COVID-19.

Wise County’s total number of COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began increased from 195 Monday to 197 yesterday, according to Virginia Department of Health statistics.

The county’s total number of COVID cases since spring 2020 remained at 10,248.

The health department’s cumulative positive case count for Norton was back up to 1,305 as of Thursday, the same number reported one week earlier. As of Monday, it had been revised down by two.

The number of total deaths in the city remained at 22.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began rose from 1,204,851 Monday to 1,207,479 yesterday, an increase of 2,628. The number of cases deemed “probable” rose from 473,364 Monday to 474,250 yesterday, an increase of 886.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Virginia increased by 94 to 16,676.The number of probable COVID-19 deaths increased by 10 to 3,312.
