GARY TATE

Gary Allan Tate, 75,of Norton, died Friday, April 1, 2022, at the home of his daughter in Independence, Va.
He was a 1967 graduate of J.I. Burton High School. Gary was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former employee of Birmingham Bolt Company and was currently employed at Tempur-Sealy in Duffield, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helen Tate; brothers, Jimmy Tate, Gerald Tate, Robert “Bobby” Tate, Alfred Tate and Frank Tate; two sisters, Deanna Tate and Nancy Darnell.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Knott and her husband Dan of Philadelphia, TN., and Vicky Blevins and her husband Doug of Independence.; a son, James Tate and his wife Crystal of Norton; five grandchildren, McKenzie Tate, Mason Blevins, Levi Blevins, Jacob Knott and Abby Knott; future grand daughter-in-law, Emily Brooks of Independence.; a brother, Mike Tate of Morristown, TN.; a sister, Sandra Rose of Clinton, TN..; and special friend, Mike Thomas of Lee County.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm Wednesday, April 6, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Fultz, Jr. officiating. U.S. Air Force Military Funeral Honors will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton.
