LARRY MEADE

Larry Meade, 78, of Pound passed into Glory Monday February 15, 2022 in the presence of his loving wife and granddaughter.

  Larry was of the Protestant faith. He was a kind and gentle man. Calm by nature and slow to upset. He was a civil service employee with 34 years of service as a cartographer with the department of 

defense. Larry loved the time he spent with his family whether it was fishing, hiking, bike riding, camping, cook outs or any other 

type of family get together, especially if there was eating involved. 

   Larry liked bluegrass, country and gospel music especially the Statler Brothers, the Oak Ridge Boys and Willie Nelson. His favorite song was “This World Is Not My Home” by Jim Reeves. Larry was an avid reader, one of his special skills was speed reading, he could read a large book in no time at all.  

  Larry was preceded in death by his parents Thurston and Belle (Fleming) Meade; a sister Wanda Sturgill, his brothers Harold 

Meade, Jerry Meade and Kenneth Meade; his grandson Cedric Thomas, Jr.; and his favorite pet Ginger.

  Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years Sandy Meade; his son Larry Meade Jr. and wife Jill of Manassas; his daughter Rhonda Pierce and husband Dwayne of Baileyton,  AL; adopted daughter Rhonda Thomas and husband Cedric of Bowie, MD; grandchildren Brittany Stilwell (Tyler), Karlie Meade, Chad Farris and Kristyn Crisler; great-grandchildren Lyric Pierce, David Lloyd, Genoma Crisler and Jerica Crisler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; life long friends Bob and Evelyn Anderson and Heidi Oestreicher; brother-in-law Steve Shortt and a host of other close family, friends and neighbors. 

A celebration of life service was held at 4:00 pm Sunday, February 20 in the Baker Funeral Home chapel.
