VERNILA ELKINS KELLY

Vernila Elkins Kelly left the arms of her loving family to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday February 15, 2022.
She was born in Pike County, Ky to the late James and Martha Cable Elkins. Vernila was married to the love of her life, Rusty Kelly, for 63 years and together raised their four daughters in Pound. She devoted her entire life to her family and raised her girls to love Jesus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Angela Kelly May and all of her 18 siblings.
Vernila is survived by her devoted husband Rusty Kelly; her daughters and sons in law Robin and Bob Leonard, Kim and Kevin Nicewonder and Tanya and Jaret Logan; her grandchildren Luke (Mikaela) Logan, Tanner (Alexis) Logan, Martha Leonard, Nick Nicewonder and Carly Nicewonder; her great granddaughters Harper and Haedyn Logan; her sister-in-law Virginia Elkins; her brother-in-law Ira Maggard; her church family; and a host of friends and family.
The family is grateful to her loving caregivers Nellie Boggs, Ann Collier and Rissa Raines.
A final church service in her honor will be held at First Baptist Church of Pound on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be between 4:00 pm and the time of services.
Vernila will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm Sunday, Feb.20 at the Crouse Cemetery, Pound, where sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
To know Vernila was to love her.
