SHEILA ELAINE (SMITH) MITCHELL
Sheila Elaine Mitchell, 73, of St. Paul, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
She was born on February 6, 1949, in Cheverly, Maryland; daughter of the late James Curtis and May Eleanor (Musser) Smith. She was preceded in death by one sister, Shrebia Smith; and a special friend, Mary Russell.
Sheila was of the Christian faith. She loved her entire family and had a servant’s heart. She was always willing to help others. In 1991 she achieved a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. In later years, she went to school to become an auctioneer. The activities she enjoyed were spending time with her family and friends, playing games with her family and coming up with new and creative ways for her family to have fun.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Carlos Mitchell; two daughters, Josette McCoy and husband, Tim of Nora and Joni McCoy and husband, Jamie of St. Paul; one son, James Mitchell and wife, Leticia of Coeburn; one sister, Jeanene Blair of Maryland; four brothers, James Smith of Maryland, Curtis Smith of St. Paul, Robert Smith of Georgia, and Dennis Smith of Florida; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Sheila Elaine Mitchell were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, at Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood with her niece, Julie McCoy leading family and friends in a celebration of her life. Interment followed in Mitchell-Smith Cemetery, Sandy Ridge Road, St. Paul. Pallbearers were Jude Darrah, Austin McCoy, Justin McCoy, Jessie McCoy, Matthew McCoy and Jacob Clingaman. Honorary Pallbearers were Timothy McCoy, Jamie McCoy, and Jeremy McCoy.
The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10 at Castlewood Funeral Home.
