JANIE LAWSON DOCKERY
Janie Lawson Dockery, 65, of Coeburn, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA.
Janie was a wonderful wife, mother and amazing grandmother. She loved flowers. Spending time outside gardening, doing flowers for family and her church brought her so much joy. She also loved the water; whether it was the pool, the lake, or the beach. She loved the Lord and most of all loved her family with all her heart. Janie has been a caretaker all her life. She raised her family as well as helped to care for her parents as they aged and spoiled her grandkids. She was truly a blessing to everyone she met and will be greatly missed by all.
Janie was a proud member of Mary’s Chapel Church and the church choir. She was anxiously awaiting her upcoming retirement as Director of the CAC at MEOC. She also spent many of her earlier years working and dedicating her life to the care of others at Family Crisis Support Services.
On Monday afternoon little did we know that the Lord was going to call you home. In life we loved you dearly and in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone for part of us went with you. The day God called you home you left us with beautiful memories. Your Love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you will always be by our side and in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Lena Pearl Lawson; sister, Sherry E. Reece; son, Eddie Garrett Dockery Jr.; and angel baby boy.
Surviving are her husband, Eddie Garrett Dockery Sr.; daughter, Heather Lane and husband David; daughter, Laura Lee Richardson and husband Anthony; daughter, Anita Dockery and Dwight Darnell; grandchildren, “D. J.” Daniel Greear and wife Jessica; Emily McCoy and husband Austin; Jacob Skeen and wife Chelsea; Dalton Thacker and Emilee Bonner; and Caleb Lane and wife Gracey; great-grandsons, Brantley McCoy, Bjorn Skeen, and awaiting new arrival of great-granddaughter, Emberley McCoy; sister, Dolores Hayes; and brother-in-law, Charles Reece; niece, Kim Hayes; nephew, Scottie Reece; “honorary grandchildren” Chase and Sydney Reece; and a host of cousins and friends.
