ERMA JEWEL DOTSON NIXON

Erma Jewel Dotson Nixon, born August 6, 1934, entered her eternal rest peacefully Friday, January 28, 2022 at her home in Coeburn, VA surrounded by her family.
She owned and operated Coeburn Flowers and Crafts for 14 years where she and her husband met many lifelong friends. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, her flower beds and watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with them around the dinner table.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Dotson and Goldie Lee Phillips; her husband of 42 years, Rufus Roy Nixon; daughter-in-law Delores (Dee Dee) Toohey Nixon; son-in-law Tom Collins; son-in-law, Roger Kus; her sisters, Mattie Lambert and Sondra Dotson; brothers, Wilmer Dotson and Dexter Dotson.
Surviving her to keep her memory alive are her daughters, Linda Kus of Coeburn, Brenda Collins of Coeburn; son, Timothy Nixon (Donna Stanley Wright) of Coeburn; grandchildren, Amy Kus (Jeff Payne), Joshua T Collins, Janet Nixon, Chris Nixon (Chasity Hill); great grandchildren, Dalton Lawson, Daniel Anderson, Emily Robinson, Chase Collins, Christian Collins, Raylan Kus; sister, Trula Wright (Don) of Abingdon; brother, Cornell Dotson, Wellington, OH; sisters-in-law, Shelby Nixon, Marjorie Nixon and Beatrice Powers; former husband, Bernis Hammons of Greenfield, IN; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family received friends at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn on Monday, January 31. Funeral services followed with Brother Larry Mullins officiating. Erma’s wishes were to be cremated and her cremains will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Coeburn with a private ceremony.
