JANICE RUTH MARSHALL STALLARD

Janice Ruth Marshall Stallard, 79, of Coeburn, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Coeburn, Virginia to the late Omar Wilson and Euva Gertrude Stallard Marshall.

She is survived by her husband of 62 ½ years, Therman A. Stallard; daughter, Debbie Steele and husband, William of Wise; sons Rickey Stallard and wife, Pam of Coeburn, David Stallard and wife, Carla of Mooresburg, TN.; daughter Robin Kittel of Madison, AL.; grandchildren, Nathan Stallard and wife, Bethany, Nicole Gross, Coleman Stallard all of Coeburn, Cody Steele of Wise, Andrea Nation of Madison, AL. Elysa Henry of Clinton, TN., and Bridgett Bryant of Mooresburg, TN.; 10 great grandchildren, brother, Donald K. Marshall and wife, Kitty of Prince George and sister, Susan J. Marshall Gore of Fredericksburg; several very special nieces and nephews.

Janice was a lifelong resident of Coeburn, living in Wise and Dickenson Counties. She always enjoyed her family and friends and being involved in her community.

She helped operate the family-owned business Marshall’s Department Store in Coeburn for several years. Her love of antiques prompted the opening of two businesses, the first in Coeburn and the second in Appalachia. Friendships established during this time remain to this day.

Janice loved “BIG” and enjoyed life, her family was first and knew they were loved. She made everyone feel welcome and her door was always open. Janice was gifted with a natural ability to embrace her family and friends with genuine empathy and sensitivity for their every need. She made herself available without reservation. Her smiles, hugs, sense of humor, wit, and most of all her love will greatly missed. Jan was a blessing to all that knew her.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 6th Street NW, Coeburn.

Graveside entombment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 12 in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Chapel of Love with Pastor Tim Collins officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN. 38101-9929.
