Norton schools report cases, quarantines
November 16, 2021
Norton schools reported 24 cases of COVID-19 from Oct. 4 to Nov. 12, slightly less than 30 school days.
The majority of cases were in Norton Elementary and Middle Schools.
In that time frame, five staff members and 15 students from NEMS tested positive, while four John I. Burton High School students tested positive for the virus.
One NEMS staff member and 37 students, as well as four Burton students, were in quarantine during the same timeframe.
The pediatric COVID-19 vaccine was offered to NEMS students Nov. 8. Information on how many students received the vaccine when it was offered was not available at time of press.
A healthy Wise County requires great community news.
