ZION JEFFERIES LEDFORD

Zion Jefferies Ledford, 20, of Wise, born January 16, 2001, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Zion was raised by “papaw” and “mamaw,” Kenny and Connie Hamilton in Wise, who were proud to call him son. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Castlewood. There he learned the love of God and fellowship through the “Over the Hill” gang where he was a member. Zion was a very accomplished young man. He graduated with honors from John I. Burton High School in 2020. At John I. Burton, he was a dedicated member of the Raiders football team. Papaw Kenny taught him to enjoy the outdoors through hunting, gardening, fishing among many other things. After graduating from high school, Zion’s career choice was to be a lineman, where he proudly worked for Pike Electric. Zion was loved by many and had lots of friends.

Survivors include his guardian family, Kenny and Connie Hamilton; siblings, David Luther (and his children, Dylan, Natalie, Madison), Jessie Luther, Alicia Sutherland (and her children Hannah, Alex, Elijah, and grandchildren, Everleigh), all of Wise; his father, Jeffrey Ledford Sr.; siblings, Suzanne Gambrel, Tamerica Neely, Jeffrey Ledford Jr., Angelica Ledford, Justin Johnson, Deondre’ Jetter, Jordan Jetter and Jada Vancamp; his mother, Christina Cook and her husband Paul “Skip” Cook; sibling, Elijah Cook; and his grandmother, Helen Ledford.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday evening at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Price officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, September 17, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery.

For the safety of everyone, during the resurgence of Covid-19, masks are encouraged for everyone attending.
