Chamber gala is postponed due to COVID

The Wise County Chamber of Commerce has postponed its annual gala and silent auction for nearly one month because of rising COVID-19 case rates.

Chamber officials announced to members Aug. 10 that the event, which was set for Saturday, has been moved to Saturday, Sept. 11. It will take place in the Prior Convocation Center at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

“After review of the rising COVID-19 numbers in our area over the weekend, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in the event,” officials said.
