Angels’ ‘Dreamland’ is a big success
Last Tuesday, the Angels presented their first annual OpenSpot Theater presentation “Dreamland” at the Lay’s Hardware Building in Coeburn.
A second round of the OpenSpot Theater has been approved and will be from September 11 to October 6.
Anyone with questions or offers of assistance can contact Kailey Kyle at 276/219-5511, Hannah Adams at 276/337-7823 or Crystal Lawson at 276/219-5172.
Stars of the show included:
Emily Glover as Ladybug Marinette; Addi Hall as Pete the Cat; Eric Estep as Popeye; Ian Robinson as the Pirate; Nick Wells as Emmet Brickowski; Sarah Lawson as Billie Eilish; Tony Cheeks as Wolfman Jack; Ethan Lawson as Daniel LaRusso (The Karate Kid).
Kailey Kyle fell in love with theater during her time on the Eastside One-Act team, winning five state championships as well as 12 acting awards. Now a junior at ETSU majoring theatre and psychology with the intent to work in drama therapy, Kyle brings that love back home to work with the Special Needs Angels organization with Virginia’s first OpenSpot Theatre popup chapter.
Another Eastside graduate, Hannah (Hill) Adams, is teaching alongside Kyle. She graduated from UVA Wise in 2018 with a degree in special education and currently works at J.W. Adams Combined School as a special education teacher. She has volunteered with the Angels for the last 11 years.
