KENNETH ‘KENNY’ EUGENE HORNE

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth “Kenny” Eugene Horne announces his passing after a brief illness on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Kenny was born on October 1, 1950 in Coeburn.
He was the son of the late Virginia Brown and Everette Horne and the beloved grandson of the late Mae and Grady Horne. Kenny graduated with the Class of ’68 from Coeburn High School and attended the University of Virginia at Wise.
Kenny will be forever remembered by his older brother, Randall “Randy” Horne (Anita) of Harrisonburg. Kenny will also be fondly remembered by aunts, Clara Horne Echols, Mineral Ridge, OH; Jackie Hawkins, Coeburn; Glenda Kennedy, Sandy Ridge; June Barrowman (David), NC; Donna Salyer (Larry), Coeburn and cousins, Tracy Echols Butcher (Jerry), Mineral Ridge; Renee Richardson and Darryl Richardson, both of Riverview. Kenny is also survived by his niece, nephew and numerous extended family members and special friends Donna Hillman, Sarah Kring and Larry Pennington.
To all that knew him, Kenny’s great love of friends, family and people was genuine and real, a kind and gentle soul. Kenny had also been an excellent baseball player and his love of the game was a lifelong following. His brother knows from experience that his knuckleball was one of the best.
Arrangements are being handled by Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn. Visitation was Saturday, May 15, noon to 2 pm, at the funeral home with Marty Puckett officiating. Interment followed in the old Horne Cemetery. Pallbearers were Conley Hillman, Ronnie Adkins, Darryl Richardson, Ralph Nixon, James Slemp and Rob Garrett.
Memorial donations in memory of Kenny can be made to any canine rescue or charity of choice.
