Arbor Day
The Green Thumb Garden Club of Norton was organized in 1950. For almost 70 years, the club has been planting a tree each Arbor Day to rec-ognize their importance in our environment. Green Thumb Garden Club has donated several trees to the City of Norton including Virginia’s state tree, the Dogwood. Not only is the Dogwood a beautiful blooming tree, but it provides nourishment for important pollinators, shade in the hot months, protection against soil erosion and clean air. Those interested in becoming a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club may contact Carol Moore at raycarmoo@gmail.com. The garden club meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm.
