BETTY JEAN FOSTER

Betty Jean Foster, age 83, of Capac, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, April 26, 2021 after complications due to COVID 19.

She was born Betty Jean Richardson on January 24, 1938 in Wise County, Virginia, to the late Samuel Casper and the late Inous Dove (Gouge) Richardson. 

Betty married Charlie Allen Foster on December 24, 1952. Charlie preceded her to Heaven on March 1, 2020.  

She was employed as a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) by Lapeer County Health Department for 8 years. Earlier, Betty was employed as a seamstress for a canvas repair shop in Royal Oak for 3 years.

Betty was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church of Romeo and dearly loved her church family.

She enjoyed reading and traveled the world through books. Betty was extremely grateful for her large family and delighted in visits with them, whether in Michigan or in the mountains of Virginia. She was a wonderful mother and took it seriously.   Betty’s favorite things to tell her children was “raising children is the hardest job in the world, but also, the most rewarding.”  Her greatest joy in this world was the love and kindness of her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children:  Marilyn (Brian, Sr.) Bills of Waterford, MI, Alice Kay (Pete) Crawford of Millington, MI, Frances Darlene (Jerry) Green of Sandusky, MI, Robin (Philip) Kamp of Marlette, MI, Charlie Allen (Lois) Foster, Jr. of Troy, MI, Robert (Sandy) Foster of Armada, MI and Nathan Foster of Olympia, WA; her special niece and caregiver: Beth Ann Ring; and her sisters:  Nancy Witt and Elaine Kennedy; Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by: her husband: Charlie Foster; great-grandchildren: Elijah Allen Ayres and Jacob Wayne Ellis; and her siblings: Clyde Richardson, Pauline McCoy, Marie Hobbs, Carvis Richardson, Ralph Richardson, Doris Fleshman, Virginia Ring, Faye Hall, Ray Richardson and Shirley Asbury.

A graveside service and interment will take place at 1 pm, Tuesday, May 4 at Greenwood Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.  Pastor Ron Meadows, of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, will officiate. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to: Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 64395 Romeo Plank Rd., Ray, MI  48096 or Teen Challenge, 440 Pontaluna Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444.
