SAMMY MULLINS JR.

Sammy Mullins Jr., 47, of Pound, passed away Saturday April 2, 2021 from Norton Community Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. 

Sammy was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Sammy had worked for the City of Norton as shop foreman and mechanic for 16 plus years. Sammy’s love for the kids in the community was endless, he was a Little League coach in both baseball and football… not only on the field, but also off the field, he was always there to help one of his players in need . He was proud to be a coach and a mentor. Sammy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling, going to horse shows and trail riding horses. 

Sammy was preceded in death by his grandparents Earl and Clohia Mullins and his father-in-law, Bobby Graham Sr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years Tina (Graham) Mullins- Pound; a son, Adrian Corey Mullins- Pound and his fiancé Haley Brummitt of Norton; his parents, Sammy and Mary Ann (Robinson) Mullins of Pound; brother, Arron Mullins and wife Merri of Pound; mother-in-law, Phyllis Graham of Appalachia; brothers-in-law, Bobby Graham and wife Carrie of Stickleyville and Tim Collins and wife Robin of Big Stone Gap; special nephew, Nickel Mullins of Pound,; special niece, Penny Mullins of Pound; nieces Tayler, Straley, Emily and Hannah; great-niece Josiah Ivy Mae; several cousins; all his co-workers at the City of Norton that were like family to him; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 pm Tuesday April 6 in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Danny Mullins officiating. The family received friends from 5 pm until time of services. 

Graveside services were conducted at 11 am Wednesday April 7, at John Hop Mullins Cemetery in Pound where family members will serve as pallbearers.
