CAROLYN RUTH MEADE

Carolyn Ruth Meade, 72, of Pound, finished the good fight Monday February 22, 2021 as she went home to be with the Lord. Her loving family was at her bedside.
Carolyn was Christian and a long-time member of Pyles Memorial Chapel. She retired as a registered nurse with the Dickenson County Health Department. Carolyn went back to school and became a nurse at the age of 40. She enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the cabin, sewing and working in her flower garden. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandkids. She was “Mam Maw” to many.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents. Everett and Leota (Stallard) Cantrell; her son-in-law teddy Powers; and her sisters Francis Dotson and Brenda Gilliam.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 ½ years, Jeffery Meade; her daughter Melissa Powers-Pound; her son Jeff (Bubby) Meade and wife Dana-Pound; grandchildren Isaac Powers, Haley Meade and Dawson Meade; a sister Joan Mullins of Pound; brothers Lee Cantrell of Harriman, TN, David Cantrell and wife Billie Jean-Buffalo Junction, VA and Newell Cantrell and wife Crystal of Macclenny. FL; Becky McCoy of Pound, who was like a daughter to her; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and lots of special friends and neighbors.
Memorial services were conducted at 7 pm Thursday, February 25, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Troy Belcher and Reverend Randy Carter officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until time of services. Baker Funeral Home in Pound is serving the family of Carolyn Ruth Meade.
