AVONE TIM HONGKHAM

December 28, 2020

Avone Tim Hongkham went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, December 21, 2020.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Tim owned and operated the Wakame Japanese Steak House in Norton, Virginia. Tim was born in Laos, and he and his family immigrated to the United States in the mid 1970’s. Tim made his way to the eastern coast where he found his love and passion for teppanyaki cooking. This was evident if you patronized one of his many restaurants throughout the 40 years of his cooking career that started when he was a young chef and restaurateur in Boone, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Somboon and Chan Wongprasert and brother Aroun Hongkham.

He is survived by his wife Parita “Aoi” Hongkham and his seven children, Philip Hongkham (Jamie), Marsha Molina (Noel), Jessica Stamey (Jon), Ashley Browning (Allen), T.J. Hongkham, Jason Hongkham, and Joyce Hongkham, six grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

Due to the pandemic and sudden loss of Tim, the family have brought him home to Seymour, TN as his final resting place, but The Hongkham family would like to thank the community and citizens of Norton, VA for being a home away from home for Tim, while he worked and fed the people he loved so very much.
