JEAN ROBERTS MOORE

Jean Roberts Moore, 89, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at The Laurel’s Assisted Living in Wise, VA, a place she called home for the last nine years.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was born to the late Lloyd and Blanche Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Bill Moore; grandson, Seth Logan Moore; sister, Bobbie Roberts Horne; brother, Bill Roberts; and nephew, Thomas Joseph Mangum.

She was a graduate of Wise High School and worked as a bookkeeper. After her marriage to Bill, she worked with him at their grocery store, Moore’s Grocery in Wise, Virginia and was a devoted wife and mother. She lived most of her life in Wise until Bill’s retirement at which time they moved to South Holston Lake near Abingdon.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Dr. Raymond Michael Moore of Wise and Dr. Gregory Todd Moore and wife Shannon of Boone, NC; granddaughter, Sara Moore Martin and husband Brooks and their children, Grady Seth Martin and Elaina Lee Martin of Farragut, TN; grandson, Conor Mattox, US Army; sister, Mary Ann Rose and husband Thurston of Wise; sister-in-law, Betty Roberts of Abingdon; niece, Kim Roberts Fergus (Howard); and nephews, Barry Allison (Beth) and Douglas Mangum; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to Covid, all services will be private. Burial will be held in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap with Rev. Jeff Sams officiating.
