School employees will get hazard pay
November 15, 2020
WISE — The county School Board voted unanimously Tuesday to award all county school employees with hazard pay to reward their service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The one-time payments will be $1,000 for a full-time employee and $500 for a part-time worker.
Many employees have had to take on additional roles during this time. Superintendent Greg Mullins confirmed that this stipend would help to recognize the efforts of those who have gone above and beyond during this time and would come from state coronavirus relief funds as well as local school funds.
Finance Director Beth Shupe reassured the school board that there would still be ample funds available to provide personal protective equipment to staff.
A healthy Wise County requires great community news.
