Dental students use Halloween treat bags to teach kids importance of brushing
The MECC Dental Assisting Students recently completed a community service project for Norton Elementary and Middle School. The students made Halloween treat bags for every NEMS first grader – which (in addition to candy) had a toothbrush, plaque disclosing tablets, and some other holiday prizes. The bags were delivered to the school, along with a video of dental related lessons and book readings.
The hope is to remember the importance of brushing and oral hygiene as we enter the sweet-filled holiday season.
Although it was not the same as visiting with students in the classroom, this project did allow first graders learning virtually to get the exact same treats as their friends in school!
