LORETTA BAKER MULLINS

Loretta Baker Mullins, 82, of Pound, passed away peacefully Monday October 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Pound the daughter of the late William Ray and Gertie Meade Baker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61+ years Bennie Allen Mullins; and sons Steve Allen Mullins and Johnny Dale Mullins.

Loretta was a Christian and a member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church. She attended Ferbie Chapel and was a former member ofFairwood Freewill Baptist Church, Fairfax, VA. Loretta was an active member of every church she attended and loved working with children.She taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, oversaw Vacation Bible School and directed Christmas plays.

Loretta was a devoted mother spending the first 20+ years of her married life raising and providing guidance to four rambunctious sons. In addition to being a homemaker she was an avid reader, loved making quilts, gardening and making peanut butter fudge for family and friends.

After raising her family, she entered the workplace working several years at the Fabric House in Pound and in the fabric department at Walmart in Norton for over 15 years.

Survivors include sons Larry Neil Mullins, Brandon, MS and Scott Mullins, Pound; grandchildren Tracey Michael and husband Mikie, Dr. Courtney Mullins, Jake Mullins, and Tanner Mullins; great-grandchildren Owen Michael, Emmet Michael and Levi Michael; sisters Janet Robinson and husband J.T., Juanita Kelly and husband Harry, and Neva Webb and husband Danny; an aunt, an uncle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday, October 30, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ed Slemp officiating.Visitation will be from noon until time of services.

We will be following state mandated occupancy and social distancing standards. Masks must be worn at all times. THE FAMILY REQUIRES THAT EVERYONE WEARS A MASK AT ALL TIMES!
Burial will follow in the Meade Cemetery on Ferbie Road in Pound where Scott Mullins, Larry Mullins, Tony Webb, Jason Kelly, Tanner Mullins and Jimmy Carroll (Bud) Powers will serve as pallbearers.
