Christian school delays opening

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

The Wise County Christian School is scheduled to resume classes the day after Labor Day. Principal Mullins is looking forward to opening and having enthusiastic children and parents and teachers return to educate the children and with a solid faith in Christian truths.

I’ve visited there and find it a clean, peaceful and energetic place where there are good teachers and folks who love and appreciate the school. I have met a few who have been there since kindergarten and will graduate this year.

PRAYERS FOR BILLY HIBBITTS

We were sorry to hear that Billy Hibbitts who is pastor at Hubbard Chapel on Birchfield Road has been diagnosed with the COVID 19 virus. Please pray for Billy, his wife Lois and his family. Also pray for the folks at his little church. We all hope for a quick recovery for Billy.

GRANDCHILDREN VISIT

Gig and Jerry Collier have been enjoying the company of some of their grandchildren from out of state. The children really enjoy visiting with their grandparents, riding the ponies, touring the mountains and enjoying a few activities here in Wise County which are very limited at this challenging time.

SUFFERS BROKEN LEG

Phyllis Hatcher Ellsworth is gradually recovering after having a terrible fall several days ago breaking a leg. She fell and broke her leg last year about the same month. She recovered and is now dealing with another break and a different leg. Yes indeed pray for her. I’m sure she would appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

GEORGIA VISITORS

We had some visitors in our area recently from Georgia who said that they really enjoyed the beauty when they come here. They were especially impressed with the abundant foliage and the gorgeous and diverse wild flowers along the highways and on the mountains. I told them “NO” that they cannot come here to live because we do not anyone else to take up valuable space and our air.

Now your readers know that I did not really say that. I just keep my sentiments and thoughts to myself.
