FANNIE FRANCES POWERS

May 14, 2020

Fannie Frances Powers 93 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Norton Community Hospital.  She was a loving wife of 57 years to the late Rev. Harlis H. Powers.  She faithfully stood by her husband’s side, together as they spread the gospel while pastoring, and ministering at numerous Freewill Baptist Churches.

She adored and took pride in her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Frances found great joy in spoiling and nurturing her family.  She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and some of her specialties and family favorites  included butterscotch pie, peanut butter candy, Baptist pie, and blueberry pie just to mention a few.  Her family will forever cherish the memories we have setting around her table during special occasions and holidays.  Frances’ hobbies included quilting and sewing, and making homemade crafts and heirloom dolls (such as Raggedy Ann and Andy) for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will forever cherish the homemade crafts that she specially made for each one.  She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Frances learned from her mother in her younger years how to can and preserve food and did this as long as she was able.  After working long hard hours at canning and pickling and preserving the food, she loved to prepare and share it with her family, friends and neighbors.  She had a heart of gold.  She was a devout Christian woman and her greatest treasure was knowing Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior; whom she loved and served from a young age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harlis H. Powers, daughter Gaye F. Boles, son Terry H. Powers, parents Robert E. and Rebecca Owens Robinette; brothers, Arthur Robinette, Emory H. Robinette, Sr., Chester Robinette, Cecil D. Robinette; sisters, Mabel Scott and Gustavia Robinette.

Fannie is survived by her brother, Robert L. Robinette and wife Charlotte of Norton, VA; sister, Sandra Lawson and husband Grady of Norton, VA; sister-in-laws Flora Robinette, Charlene Powers, and Shelby Nixon,; daughter-in-law, Becky Powers; son-in-law Benny Boles; five grandchildren, Eddie B. Boles, Elmer Harlis Boles, Adam Powers, Josh Powers, and Lenzee Davidson; great grandchildren, Makayla Powers, Makenna Powers, Greyson Davidson, Skylar Boles, Seth Boles, Kaitlyn Grace Boles; great great grandchild, Braelyn Boles; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

She will be laid to rest Monday, May 11 at Roundtop cemetery next to her husband.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic funeral services will be private, conducted by Rev. R.L. Crawford.

To those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her, she will be forever missed and be in our memories forever.

Roy A. Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
